Our Story
Representing your lifestyle one garment at a time.
EZ The Lifestyle Clothing Company is different from any other clothing company. How you ask? Well its simple, EZ Clothing Company is not just a brand of clothes it is a lifestyle and it has been that way from day one.
I pride myself on the "your LIFE our STYLE" concept because clothes are not just something that you put on everyday. Clothes are a representation of who you are, and they give others an idea about your lifestyle. For the most part, clothing is something very simple and direct but when ones' passion and life gets involved, clothing becomes so much more.
EZ does not aim to attract a specific type of person or lifestyle. Our aim is to represent all types of people and every lifestyle. I want the people who wear my designs to feel inspired by the shirt and incorporate it into their lifestyle - that is my ultimate goal.
I want EZ to be a something that keeps people wanting more, which means I have to deliver more. Personally, I do not like wearing the same thing as everyone else so that is why there will be special edition and exclusive T's in production. I hate it when I get excited about a clothing company or a music artist and I feel like they are not excited about me being a fan. That is why I am doing something different with EZ Clothing.
When someone orders an item on my website, I am not just going to put the items in a box and send them off. Each shirt is packaged in custom plastic zip lock bags with a special logo printed on them. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but lets just say we are packaging our shirts in zip lock bags to lock in the freshness, and in addition to the zip lock bags every order will come with something extra, a little bonus on the house (but to find out what that is you have got to order something). So, without further ado, here is our story.
1987 - The Childhood
I took my first breathe of air on March 2nd, 1987, and ever since then I have been drawing and coloring. I remember one time when I was about 6 years old; I entered a coloring contest at this store where my mom used to shop. I remember it was a Halloween themed coloring contest.
I would always get very excited when there was a coloring contest because I would always win them (lol). I took the coloring sheet home and spent all day coloring it and adding some of my own artwork onto the contest sheet. I worked on the sheet really hard and once it was done my mom and I took the coloring sheet back to the store.
A couple of days later our phone rang. My mom answered and it was the store holding the contest. They said that there was a problem with my entry. The store said that I had won the contest but they did not believe that a 6 year old could have completed the coloring sheet with such detail and skill. I remember seeing my mother getting very upset at the accusations the store was making, so we packed up my crayons and headed over to prove that it was my original artworks.
I sat on the counter of the store and colored and colored and colored. When I was finished, the staff that originally doubted my talents immediately withdrew their accusations and rewarded me with the 1st place prize. I guess you can say this is where my passion for making unique and superior artwork started. As I got older, I would draw and color on anything and everything. It did not matter if it was for a homework assignment or on my wall at home.
1997 - Skateboarding
I had just purchased my first pro-model skateboard and I started falling in love with the extreme sports lifestyle. I started traveling the U.S. going to all the top skate spots featured in an issue of Transworld Skateboarding Magazine. My two favorites were in Philly, LOVE Park and FDR Skatepark. I eventually started skating with one of my friends, James Higgins and a lifetime bond began.
As I became more involved in the skateboarding lifestyle, I started doing graffiti. I began making shirts with my graffiti designs on them. The company was called "Aerosol Clothing Company". The aerosol clothing company was unfortunately a bust. It was not because the designs were faulty; it was because I was so excited to have my own clothing line that I just gave my friends all my shirts. So it went like this…I made shirts…I gave shirts away…I ran out of shirts…and had no more money (lol). Although my first go around did not go as planned it did not stop my ambition.
2005 - The Lifestyle Began
I attended Vacaville High School in Vacaville, California (just outside of the Bay Area). It was the second semester of my senior year of high school and I was in Government class where I sat across from one my best friends, Anton DeLeon. We were talking one day during class while I was drawing on my notebook (now remember it was during class when we were supposed to be listening to the teacher's lecture) and we started talking about how we wanted to start our own clothing company.
As time passed, we continued to talk about the possible clothing company. However, there was one problem; we could not find a logo or concept we liked. At the time, I was working at Parks Sports Center, a local sports/silkscreen retail store, and one day while I was working, I came across two pieces of iron on letters that started the lifestyle. I was sorting through a huge pile of letters and out of nowhere, I came across the letter E and the letter Z. They were overlapped and I immediately dropped what I was doing and called Anton to tell him the news.
Once I was done with work, I rushed home and opened up the paint program that was on my laptop. From there I went through every font I had and finally found the two letters that worked. I spent the rest of the evening perfecting the logo and the next day I brought a picture of the completed EZ logo into class to show my friend. Immediately after showing him the logo, we ditched class and started coming up with ideas.
Since I worked at a silk screening place, I started making shirts. I began making shirts for myself and for my close friends. Soon everyone at my high school started wanting shirts. I started taking orders and making custom shirts for everybody. It got so big that everyday there was someone wearing my shirts at school. It was an exciting time for the EZ Lifestyle Clothing Company but a problem came up, school ended and I stopped working at Parks Sports Center.
I moved away as I had been recruited to play football for Willamette University and began to prepare for the season. I decided to put EZ on hold until I had more time to dedicate myself to the clothing company.
2007 - The Resurrection of EZ The Lifestyle Clothing Company
Two years later, I finally decided that enough was enough and I needed to resurrect the EZ Lifestyle. I spent every waking moment designing and planning the Lifestyle. I finally got the website made and completed EZ's first official fall line. I also gathered up all of my close friends and inducted them into a lifetime commitment to the EZ Lifestyle Boyz Crew.
I sponsored my friend, James Higgins, as EZ's first skater. I plan to, eventually, have a large number of sponsored extreme sports athletes, music artists and many other types of people with different lifestyles.
Be sure to look out for EZ Lifestyle Sponsorship Competitions, other divisions of EZ The Lifestyle Clothing Company, a girls clothing line, special edition collaboration T's, posters, stickers, jackets, hats, bags and much, much more. That's a wrap, but keep your eyes out for more additions to The Story page. Thank you for your time and your business!!!
Oh yeah, remember to always LIVE FREE, BE EZ…
